We provide opportunities for undergraduates who are studying an accounting degree or a degree majoring in accounting to undertake up to four weeks paid work experience with the Department.
These opportunities are offered through the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand Achiever Program.
The placement occurs in February each year. Numbers of placements vary, and we usually take a minimum of four students.
The students work with a small audit team and have the opportunity to assist with a variety of external auditing tasks that include:
- assisting with the conduct of financial compliance and internal controls audits that contribute to the development of complying public sector financial statements
- assisting with core audit work such as documenting business cycles and internal controls, analytical review, controls and substantive testing, and financial statement verification.
The roles are advertised by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand in July each year.
